One dead, two injured in Oklahoma workplace stabbing, shooting

One woman was killed and two people were critically injured at a food distribution centre in Moore, Oklahoma on Thursday in what is being categorized as an incidence of “workplace violence”.

The attack took place at Vaughn Foods, a food distribution centre in Moore at around 4:40 p.m. According to News9.com, the suspect, 30-year-old Alton Nolen, entered the warehouse and stabbed the first people he encountered. One woman was stabbed to death at the scene.

An off-duty sheriff’s deputy, who was working security at the warehouse, reportedly shot Nolen multiple times with a rifle while he was attacking a second woman, KFOR.com reported.

Both Nolen and the second woman were critically injured. They were transported to OU Medical, according to KFOR.com.

Neither woman had any relationship with the suspect. Nolen was convicted of multiple felony drug offenses, assault and battery on a police officer and escape from detention in January 2011, according to NewsOK.
