Obama to Remove Cuba from Terrorist List

U.S. President Barack Obama said today that he intends to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. He said he did not believe that Cuba was or would be a sponsor of terrorism. With the backing of a State Department confirmation that the Cuban government has not provided any support for terrorism in the last six months and has given assurances that it will not do so in the future, Obama has sent his proposal to Congress, which has 45 days to study the measure. It is believed that this step paves the way for the opening of embassies and the restoration of relations after more than half a ceuntury. Jorge Gestoso reports from Washington for teleSUR.
