Thailand Koh Tao murder: Burmese men confess to killing Hannah Witheridge and David Miller

Two Burmese men have confessed to the murder of two British tourists on a popular resort island in Thailand last month.
The bodies of Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24, were found naked behind large rocks on a beach in Koh Tao around 6:30 a.m. on September 15.
The victims travelled separately to Thailand on August 25 and met while staying at the same budget hotel beside the beach, the Guardian reported.
On the night of the murder, police said that the two Burmese suspects spotted the couple at a bar and later attacked them.
They first hit Miller on the back of the head with a hoe, then raped Witheridge before hitting her in the face several times, CNN said.
A re-enactment of the murder was carried on Friday by police and the two suspects, who have been in custody since October 1.
DNA samples taken from semen found in Witheridge and cigarette butts found near the bodies reportedly matched DNA samples from the suspects.
CNN said the murder has shaken residents of Koh Tao, a destination popular for its diving locations, white sand beaches and vibrant nightlife.
According to authorities the killings represent the first homicides on the island in at least eight years.
