Unconfirmed reports from the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights say Iraqi Air Force pilots who have defected to ISIS have given the militants at least three warplanes.

The defectors from the Iraqi Air Force may also be in the process of training the militants to fly the planes.

Eyewitness accounts from the Syrian city of Aleppo report jet fighters engaging in apparent training exercises at an airbase now controlled by ISIS.

The reports from Syria have to yet to authenticated, however, confirmed information from Anbar province show ISIS is gaining ground in Iraq.

Using heavy weapons seized from the Iraqi Army, ISIS has now advanced south of Fallujah, as the group inches closer to the Iraqi capital.

In the north however, U.S.-led coalition airstrikes continue to pound ISIS positions in Kobane, located just meters from the Turkish border.

The bombings have driven back the militants, allowing Kurdish fighters to retake some areas.
