Alabama family catches home burglars, holds them at gunpoint for police

An Alabama family that was the victim of a home burglary from last Friday caught the alleged thieves on Sunday afternoon and held them at gunpoint until the police could arrive.

The suspects were filmed on a home surveillance camera breaking into the Wyatt family home on Gobbler Knob Road last Friday afternoon.

The video shows a woman knocking on the Wyatt’s door. When no one answered, a male accomplice then kicked open the door. The woman and two men then grabbed two TVs and several of the Wyatt’s Christmas presents.

The three suspects then drove off in a black Ford Ranger pickup truck.

Authorities showed up at the Wyatt’s residence around 9:30 p.m. Friday to investigate.

Two days later on Sunday, Dec. 14, as police were investigating a second burglary, the Wyatts called the cops saying they had found the suspects who broke into their house and were holding them at gunpoint.

“They happened to drive by and we seen them drive by and we knew it was them and we stopped them,” Chris Wyatt said.

Wyatt followed the suspects as they turned down Gobbler’s Knob Mine Road and blocked them in. Wyatt and his friends then held them at gunpoint until police could arrive on the scene.

Chris Wyatt said the burglary suspects claimed they were lost when Wyatt approached them.

“They tried to say they were lost and we corrected them where they were,” Wyatt said.

Police arrived soon after and arrested the three. They found some stolen items from the
second burglary in the suspects’ vehicle.

Eric Paul Stillwell, 38, Natosha Derrick, 29, and Elizabeth Frost, 28, were charged with third degree burglary, and second degree theft of property for the Sunday robbery. They are being held on $25,000 bail.

The Wyatts are still hoping that they will be able to get some of their stolen things back.
