Dead body selfies: woman takes selfie with body, guilty of abandoning corpse

A southwest Missouri woman has pleaded guilty to abandoning a corpse after she and a man posed for selfies with the body and posted them on Facebook.
Chelsie Berry, 24, of Carl Junction entered her plea on Monday in Newton County Circuit Court.
Berry and 28-year-old Jared Prier were charged in August with disposing of the body of their friend, 30-year-old Dennis Meyer in the driveway of some random person’s home in rural Newton County after Meyer died from a drug overdose.
In August, Berry told authorities that she had been driving around with Dennis Meyer, when he began “acting crazy” and “pulling out his penis” after injecting himself with Dilaudid, a powerful painkiller in a McDonald’s parking lot.
After Meyer passed out, Berry said she got “nervous” and called Prier, whom she had met the night before.
By the time Prier arrived, Meyer was passed out, so Prier took the wheel and they drove to a gas station with Meyer in the passenger seat.
When they got to Love’s Gas Station, Berry went into buy a drink when Prier discovered that Meyer was no longer breathing. When Berry came out, she concluded the same thing.
Berry and Prier were reluctant to get help for Meyer because they were both high on meth and Xanax.
When Meyer’s body began to “smell bad,” they moved his body to the back seat.
Before moving him to the back, the two posed for a selfie with their dead friend.
The two eventually dumped the body in the early morning hours along some long driveway in the back roads in Carl Junction.
The image has since been removed.
Prosecutors later dropped the charge of abandonment of a corpse against Prier.
