Plastic surgery disasters: Woman goes for liposuction and has scars for life

Two years ago in Sichuan, a woman identified by her last name, Huang, was looking into cosmetic surgery as a quick-fix way to be a little thinner.

She spent a whopping $20K USD on the liposuction procedure and had ten pounds removed from her tummy.

Everything seemed to be going well, except that 2-3 months later an itchy rash appeared across her abdomen with large red splotches. Huang contacted the clinic, who told her it was typical and her skin was just reacting to some irritation. They suggested that she moisturize to reduce dryness that was causing the rash.

The rash and red spots did eventually go away, but they were replaced with large white blotches. Finally seriously concerned Huang went to a doctor who told that the white spots were a result of hypopigmentation, which occurs due to a depletion in the skin’s melanin. Hypopigmentation is also what causes albinism and sometimes can be caused by laser treatments. The doctor also told Huang that there was no cure for hypopigmentation and that the white marks on her skin were permanent.

So now Huang is suing the clinic to the tune of $700K USD for a botched procedure and emotional damage.
