Anthony Pinnisi is the high-schooler from Virginia who asked a friend how many retweets he’d need for his friend’s mom to be his prom date. She challenged him with a million but later halved it. “Challenge accepted,” Pinnisi replied.

And so it began with a single tweet, which included a screenshot of the challenge and a few pics of the cougar in question. Supportive retweets started rolling in from all over the world. Pinnisi’s Twitter handle was trending in New York and Chicago, and his story was picked up by a UK news outlet.

Young Tony was well on his way to actually taming the cougar of his dreams. The young lad’s plea to “Help a dude out” was retweeted around 80,000 times, but he was forced to take it down by a school administrator.
