A shooter wounded a cardiac surgeon before turning the gun on himself at a hospital in Boston on Tuesday.

A doctor was critically injured at a Boston hospital Tuesday when a gunman, later identified as 55-year old Stephen Pasceri, entered the Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s cardiovascular center.

Pasceri went to the second-floor office and asked for a specific doctor. According to the Boston Globe, the two then went into a room where the gunman shot the doctor twice in the upper body.

The shooter was found dead a while later in an examination room from a self-inflicted gunshot. A weapon was found next to the body.

The doctor, who was identified as Dr. Michael Davidson by local press, was rushed into surgery for life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating why he was targeted by Pasceri.
