Police shooting: Bridgeton police officer Braheme Days killed unarmed Jerame Reid with his hands up

Bridgeton, New Jersey police officers Braheme Days and Roger Worley have been on leave since a December 30 when they killed 36-year-old Jerame Reid during a routine traffic stop after the driver rolled through a stop sign on South Pine Street.

Dashcam video from the police squad car shows Days approach Reid in the passenger seat. Days spotted a gun in the glovebox of the vehicle. He then removed the gun and told the passenger not to move.

“I'm telling you, I'm gonna shoot you. You're gonna be f---ing dead. I'm telling you.” Days said to Reid moments before pulling the trigger. “I'm telling you ... I'm telling you. Keep your f---ing hands right there. Hey Jerame, you reach for something, you gonna be f---ing dead.”

“I'm getting out,” said Reid.

“No you're not,” Days replied. “Don't f---ing move!”

“I'm getting out,” said Reid just before opening the door of the vehicle and stepping out.

Days appears to have fired at least six times and Worley fired once. Reid was fatally wounded and fell to the ground. The driver of the vehicle remained still and safe with his hands out the driver’s side window.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the case. Reid had previously spent 13 years behind bars for shooting at New Jersey state troopers when he was in his teens.
