Driving wrong way on highway: elderly man nearly gets into serious accident, crashes into truck

An elderly 88-year-old Japanese man was caught driving the wrong way down the highway last week.
It happened at night at around 7pm in the city of Kanzaki, located on Japan’s third largest island, Kyushu. When they caught sight of the man, other drivers began reporting a car driving the wrong direction.
The elderly gentleman grazed three sedans while barreling down the highway and ended his trip with a head on collision with a delivery truck. The highway was shut down for 3 hours while emergency services dealt with the accident.
No one was killed or seriously injured, but the elderly man and the driver of the delivery truck suffered minor bruising.
When interviewed by the police the elderly man said he had no idea he’d been driving the wrong way, he thought everyone else was going the wrong way!
