Grandma Mummy! Man kept mummified grandma 6 weeks after she passed away
  • 9 years ago
Last week in Taichung, a city located in central Taiwan, the corpse of a partially mummified grandmother was discovered by her building manager.

The owner of the apartment, who was also the dead woman’s grandson, named Me. Li, called the building manager to remove a mannequin from his apartment.

But, the mannequin was the body of the Li’s grandmother, who had passed away over a month earlier.

Mr. Li had been living with his 89 year old grandmother for five years, but the elderly woman passed away in her sleep from a heart attack. When Mr. Li saw his grandmother’s body he refused to believe she’d died and insisted there was a mannequin lying in his grandmother’s bed.

Mr. Li did contact his godmother, who came over and shockingly, agreed with him that it was just a mannequin. To prove her point, she cut off the corpse’s left foot and threw it away, although in our opinion that doesn’t prove anything.

So it wasn’t until Mr. Li contacted the building manager that anyone realized his grandmother had passed away.

The judge presiding over the case has ordered that Mr. Li receive psychiatric help, as he believes the man was unable to accept the death of his grandmother and may have underlying mental problems.
