Craigslist killer? Bud and June Runion missing after trying to buy for sale 1966 Ford Mustang

Georgia police are searching for an elderly couple who disappeared on Thursday after they went to buy a classic car from someone they contacted through Craigslist.

Military veteran Elrey 'Bud' Runion once the proud owner of a ‘66 Ford Mustang, had dreamed of reliving the glory days ever since returning from Vietnam.

The 69-year-old last week decided to place an ad on Craigslist in hopes of scoring the vintage convertible.

A poster on the popular website responded to the Runion’s ad, and he and his wife June, 66, left their Marietta home around 2 p.m. to meet with the seller.

The Runions drove nearly 190-miles, roughly three hours, south to the town of McRae.

Their daughter Virginia Owens said she grew suspicious after her parents failed to show up to babysit her kids the next day and didn’t pick up any of her calls.

Police say they have pinned 28-year-old Ronnie Jay Adrian Towns as a suspect in connection with the elderly couple’s disappearance.

Town was allegedly the last person to speak to the Runion’s on the phone before their disappearance.

According to Telfair County Sheriff Chris Stevenson, Town has one warrant for making false statements to investigators and another warrant for attempting to commit theft by deception.

Police say the telephone number the Runions used to contact the poster on Craigslist traced back to a disposable cell phone.

Authorities have searched local hospitals and hotels nearby, but the Runions whereabouts remain a mystery.

Town is currently not cooperating with police, but the Runions’ daughters are hopeful they’ll see their parents again.
