A police car barreled through Center Township, Pennsylvania weaving in and out of traffic with its lights and sirens on full blast. But it wasn't a law enforcement officer driving the squad car.

It was Roxanne Rimer, suspected of shoplifting from the Kohls in Aliquippa. Center Township police caught up with the petty thief and her grandmother who were travelling southbound on Route 51.

As officers searched through her grandmother's vehicle, Rimer somehow managed to squirm from the back of the police cruiser into the driver's seat through an opening in the partition. With her hands cuffed behind her back, Rimer then plowed through her grandmother's car and sped away in the police vehicle.

Police say she may have reached speeds of up to 100 mph in the great escape that lasted about 10 minutes — pretty impressive for someone driving with their knees the whole time. At about eight minutes into the chase, Rimer asked someone walking alongside the road to help her drive. The passerby declined.

The earring thief-turned-carjacker then ditched the squad car and evaded officers on foot. She can be seen in the dashcam video running into the woods with her hands still cuffed behind her back.

Rimer was later caught and put back into a police car, this time driven by a police officer.

Luckily, nobody was injured. This may be due to the fact that the police lights and siren were on the entire time.
