Fox News FAIL? Former Fox News producer Phil Perea commits suicide outside News Corp building

A former Fox News producer took his own life in front of the News Corp. building in Manhattan on Monday, six months after he was fired his job at a Fox affiliate in Austin, Texas.

Phil Perea, 41, accused Fox News of being a "workplace bully" and uploaded hours of secretly recorded conversations with his managers at Fox 7 in Austin to argue his case.

Perea’s trouble began when he posted a photo of Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo on Fox 7’s Facebook page in July. After Acevedo saw the Facebook posting that made the police chief “look like a buffoon,” Acevedo refused to do one-on-one interviews with Fox 7.

After he was written up twice by his supervisor, Perea wrote a 100-page rebuttal to her accusations.

Perea then started recording meetings with Fox 7 general manager Mike Lewis in which Lewis explained why was was being fired.

"I'm talking about the fact that you make some people uncomfortable. People uncomfortable in this building. They're afraid of you," Lewis told Perea in one of their meetings.

The manager asked for Perea's key and keycard and initially told him he'd be suspended. He was later fired. Over the next six months, Perea continued posting to YouTube.

On January 23 Perea tweeted that he had $104 to his name. He went to the News Corp building on Monday to hand out his #theamericanworkplacebully flyers. Perea posted his last tweet an hour before the shooting with a link to the final video in his series.

He died from a single self-inflicted gunshot into the chest. A gun and suicide note were found at the scene.

Apparently, it was Geraldo who broke the story via Twitter.
