Women in the Islamic State: female jihadis publish guide on life for girls under ISIS

An Islamic State manifesto on women published on a jihadi forum by the women-only al-Khanssaa Brigade states that women should stay behind closed doors and leave the house only in exceptional circumstances.

The document — which is entitled Women in the Islamic State: Manifesto and Case Study and was translated into English by the counter-extremist Quilliam Foundation, a London-based think tank — states that education for women should begin at the age of 7 and stop at 15. The manifesto states that a girl is old enough to be married at the age of 9.

The curriculum should mainly cover Islamic religious studies, Koranic Arabic, knitting, basic cooking and other household skills. Women can in some cases work outside the home as doctors, teachers — or even as jihadis if there are not enough male fighters. But they can only work three days a week.

The manifesto, also heavily criticises Western women and gender equality.
