Vietnam kite death: boy snared in kite string falls 65 feet in horrific video

A tragic accident took the life of 5-year-old Van Minhn Dat, a boy who was helping his mother sell drinks at the Dong Dieu kite field in Ho Chi Minh City, when his legs became ensnared in kite string from a massive kite that was close to 60-feet wide.
The huge kite yanked the child into the air, lifting him to a height of some 65-feet. After a few seconds, the kite string could no longer support the boy's weight and he fell. The child died before an ambulance could get him to a hospital.
Onlookers say they had been concerned with how members of the Saigon Kite Club were launching their large kite as it was too close to stalls and bystanders. Ho Chi Minh authorities said officials had been specifically sent to the kite park to keep children away from the large kites, but the boy was apparently overlooked. Police have promised a full investigation.
