Anti-ISIS drone shot down: Syria claims to have destroyed a ‘hostile’ US MQ-1 Predator drone
  • 9 years ago
The U.S. military confirmed Tuesday that it had lost contact with a drone while flying over northwestern Syria, while the Assad regime said that it had shot down a 'hostile U.S. surveillance plane'

The MQ-1 Predator drone was flying above the town of Latakia, Syria on Tuesday. At around 1:40 p.m, the U.S. military lost contact with the UAV. Syria immediately claimed it had shot down a U.S. plane.

The loss of the drone marks the first such incident since the United States began conducting airstrikes in Syria last year.

The U.S. said it was unclear whether the aircraft had been shot down.
