Germanwings plane crash: Airbus A320 crashes in France near Barcelonnette, all on board feared dead

Some 148 people are feared dead after a Germanwings Airbus crashed in southern France on Tuesday.

The Airbus A320 operated by Lufthansa's budget Germanwings airline had 142 passengers and six crew members on board when it went down over the French Alps on Tuesday morning.

The plane was en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf. It disappeared near the town of Barcelonnette in the southern Alps.

The French interior ministry said debris from the plane had been located near Barcelonnette at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
