Aoshima Island in Ehime Prefecture is one of several ‘cat’ islands in Japan, where the population of felines outstrips the number of human residents. In fact, one of the only signs of human presence on Aoshima Island is the boatloads of tourists that arrive from the mainland to admire the cats. This video shows a time lapse of visitors arriving during a typical day, watching the cats roam the island they call their own. Credit: YouTube/Grio Damono
