Church Blasts In Lahore Federal, Punjab Govts Unable To Provide Security, Should Resign Altaf Hussain

LONDON, 15-03-2015: The founder and leader of Muttahida Quami Mr. Altaf Hussain said that the federal and Punjab governments should resign for not providing appropriate security to the minority’s sanctuaries.
Talking to the various private TV channels, MQM Chief strongly condemned the suicide attacks on Catholic Church and Christ Church School in Yuhanabadin area of provincial capital Lahore. He termed the attacks were the cowardly acts of terrorism, which claimed 14 people dead and more than 80 were injured.
Mr. Hussain said that it was the government’s responsibility to provide foolproof security to the minority’s live and properties including their sanctuaries. He said that for the last 15 years, the suicide attacks were carried out on mosques, Imambargah, Friday processions, shrines, schools, markets, army and civil institutions by the terrorists.
He said that the Army Chief took bold decision to carry out a surgical operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against the terrorists, in which number of army soldiers and officers received martyrdom. In that situation, it was the responsibility of the civilian government to provide security to every citizen, especially the members of minorities and their sanctuaries.
MQM Chief said that the army had commitment to eliminate the terrorism and extremism and MQM offered full support in the war against terror and ready to sacrifice for the country. He pointed out that the minority’s sanctuaries were the easiest targets for the extremists and terrorists.
Considering the prevailing situation, he said that the federal and provincials governments should take foolproof security measures and provide ultimate security to the churches, temples and Gurdwara. He said that rather deputing security personnel on those places the authorities deputed them to protect their houses.
Mr. Hussain said it was condemnable that no federal or provincial representative visited the Catholic Church and Christ Church School to condole the bereaved families. He said that the culprits involved in the attacks should be comprehended and hung openly. He expressed heartfelt condolence for the aggrieved families of the victims and said that every Pakistani, especially MQM workers including him share the pain and grief equally with bereaved families.
