This video lecture from Group VA and Group VIA Elements (F.Sc. second year Chemistry) covers the reaction of nitrous acid as an oxidizing agent. The acid has a tendency to reduce into nitric oxide and hence oxidizes hydrogen iodide into solid iodine, stannous chloride into stannic chloride and sulphur dioxide into sulfuric acid.
