Peru: Gov't approves dangerous chemicals for use in agriculture

The Peruvian NGO Environmental Rights and Natural Resources (DAR) reported that earlier this year the executive branch issued two controversial decrees with negative environmental effects. One decree allows the use of fertilizers that damage the ozone layer and the others permits the marketing and use of pesticides characterized by the World Health Organization as extremely dangerous, contaminating rivers, lakes, and soil as well as posing health risks for the population. Organic farmers are proposing alternatives. Rael Mora reports from Lima. teleSUR
