Throwdown Ep. 21 - "Sony Offline Entertainment"

For this week's featured topic, we discuss Sony selling off Sony Online Entertainment. Though it was sold due to it not being as profitable as Sony would have liked, it was still something that distinguished Sony from its competitors. We discuss what this all means for Sony and how Microsoft stands to benefit from this.

On the gaming news front we get into Nintendo's YouTube policy where they are asking those who upload gameplay videos of their titles to give them a 30-40% cut of the earnings. Is this a fair deal? We also talk about how Sega recently said that it is moving away from producing console games and instead focusing on PC and mobile. Is this a wise move for the company? Lastly, we talk about the rumor of 4k capable current-gen consoles being produced this year. Are 4K gaming consoles, let alone 4K TVs, something that the public is ready at this time?

For Tech News we talk about how Radio Shack has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. We discuss how they managed to get themselves into this situation and if a store like Radio Shack is even relevant anymore.

We of course finish the show with Pop Culture news. Emilio and your humble host geek out over the recently released Daredevil trailer. After the horror that was the Fox film, the world may finally get a true representation of this character. Speaking about superheroes, we discuss Superman's new power which will debut soon. Is this power one that will actually stick? We also talk about Disney eyeing Chris Pratt for the leading role in the reboot of Indiana Jones and our impressions of the Jurassic World trailer. Lastly, Tony gives his mini-review of Jupiter Ascending. A film he is dubbing "Battlefield Earth 2015."

This week’s Throwdown features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Brian Munjoma, Brett Murdock, Chris Sealy and, making his Throwdown debut, Gary A. Swaby. Thanks to our special guest Randil Hines (Ghostdini85).
