VTV Classics (r3): Chen Zhen: The Body as Landscape / Kunsthalle Wien (2007)

In 2007, Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna, Austria, payed homage to one of the most prominent Chineses avant-garde artists, Chen Zhen (1955-2000). Chen Zhen, disillusioned by post-Maoist reform politics, left China in the mid-eighties. In 1986, he emigrated to Paris where his concept of “open sculpture” received international acclaim. The retrospective staged by Kunsthalle Wien encompassed all important periods of the artists work, including models and sketches of his unrealized projects.
