As the police dragnet tightens around the two Charlie Hebdo suspects, the investigation continues. Seven people have been arrested in the cities of Reims and Charleville-Mezieres, and in the Paris area.

Police released photos of the two French nationals believed to have been located in the Aisne region northeast of the capital: brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi. They are said to have ‘trained in Yemen as assassins’ with links to terror groups going back 10 years.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls made a short speech this morning.

At the Elysee Palace, he said: “We salute the French people, through the entire mobilisation of the state, and also our fellow citizens’ rallying together yesterday and today and this weekend. We salute this standing up to fight for our freedoms, our democracy and our principle of tolerance.”

Police sources said the seven people arrested were mostly acquaintances of the two main suspects. Valls confirmed the two brothers were known to security services.
