STORY: Scores of Palestinians clashed with Israeli security forces on Friday (December 19) across the West Bank.

In the village of Turmusiya near Nablus, where a Palestinian minister died after being grabbed by the neck by an Israeli policeman at a protest last week, several hundreds of Palestinians held a commemoration march and 500 protesters hurled rocks at Israeli forces, the army said. Two Palestinians were lightly injured from riot dispersal means used by Israeli forces, it added.

Near the West Bank city of Qalandia, Israeli security forces used riot dispersal means as approximately 50 Palestinian youths were hurling rocks toward them, the army said.

Two Palestinians were lightly injured, it added.

The clashes came at a time of heightened tension between Israel and the Palestinians following months of violent unrest in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
