"Birdman" leads Globe nominees, Dr. Dre highest-earning musician

The surreal show business satire "Birdman," led the Golden Globe Awards film nominations with seven nods making it a frontrunner early in the Hollywood awards season. The story follows a washed-up actor, played by Michael Keaton, attempting a comeback on the Broadway stage. It will compete in the best comedy or musical category with "The Grand Budapest Hotel;" "Into the Woods;" "St. Vincent;" and "Pride."

For the top prize on the drama side, the contenders are coming-of-age drama "Boyhood," World War Two biopic "The Imitation Game" "Foxcatcher," "Selma" and "The Theory of Everything." The Golden Globes will be handed out on January 11.

Dr. Dre is the highest-earning musician of 2014, according to a list complied by Forbes magazine. Forbes claims he made 620 million dollars - more than the rest of the musicians on this year's Forbes Top 10 list, combined. Other musicians on the list include Beyonce, the Eagles, and Bruce Springsteen.
