Black man stopped by police for ‘walking with his hands in his pockets’

Racial tension is already running high in America after the shooting of black teenager Michael Brown by a police officer – but that does not seem to have altered the behaviour of certain officers on the street.

One black man, Brandon McKean was dumbfounded to be briefly detained for ‘walking with his hands in the pocket’, by an officer in Pontiac Michigan.

McKean turned a camera on the officer as he asked why he had been stopped.

‘You were walking by. You were making people nervous. They said you had your hands in your pockets,’ the officer said.

‘We do have a lot of robberies, so I’m just checking on you.’
Thankfully, the encounter ended nothing more confrontational than the two men high-fiving and the officer continuing on his way.

Writing on Facebook, McKean urged everyone to record and upload interactions with police in America.
