Army has called in tanks to flush out any remaining terrorist who might still be hiding in a bunker as the encounter in Kathar village of Arnia sector in Jammu & Kashmir continues.
Three civilians and three army jawans along with four terrorists have been killed in the encounter so far. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said all sensitive areas have been put on high alert. The encounter comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a pledge to unitedly combat terror at the SAARC summit. The fresh bloodletting came ahead of Modi's visit to Jammu region on Friday for Assembly poll campaign.
"As per initial reports from the area, a group of terrorists numbering between two to four infiltrated from Arnia belt of Jammu district and resorted to firing," a police officer said, adding that the security grid of Army, BSF and police swung into action and launched a search for the terrorists in the morning.
