Houthis force out al Qaeda militants in Yemeni town of Radaa

Houthi Shi'ite fighters patrol the streets of Radaa after forcing out al Qaeda militants..

Their town may be in ruins, but residents say they feel safer.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RADAA RESIDENT, LUTIF MOHAMMED, SAYING:

"Thank God now the security exists and everybody lives a normal life after the disappearance of al Qaeda militias who were threatening stability and security."

Houthi fighters managed to force out Al Qaeda fighters from one of its last strongholds with the help of government forces.

Al Qaeda has accused its opponents of acting as a proxy for the United States and threatened renewed violence against them.
