US President Obama changes stance on country's role in Afghanistan

The original plan in Afghanistan, according to United States President Barack Obama in May this year, was to limit the 2015 activities of the remaining 9,800 US troops there to training local troops and "hunting the remnants of Al Qaeda." Mr. Obama campaigned on a platform promising to end US participation in the war in Afghanistan. It would appear that pressure from within has forced the US president to shift his stance as he has agreed to give US troops in Agfhanstan greater leeway, and permission to directly participate in military activity, in the air and on the ground. teleSUR
