A French tourist has been arrested for allegedly climbing the Brooklyn Bridge. The incident occurred on Sunday in broad daylight.

Yonathan Souid is accused of climbing over a 4-foot fence that led to the bridge cable on the Manhattan side. He got approximately 20 feet up that cable before the police told him to get down.

The cop ordered him to get down and he complied with the demand. Reportedly, Souid was taking photos after climbing the cable.

He said that the images were snapped for a news website in his home country of France, but didn’t provide any press credentials to back up his claim.

Souid is facing charges of misdemeanor criminal trespassing and felony reckless endangerment.

In light of the incident, Brooklyn’s District Attorney Kenneth Thompson noted “The Brooklyn Bridge must not be trespassed upon, no matter who does it or for any reason. It's important that we protect the security of the bridge at all times and under all circumstances.”
