Pledge of Allegiance

Fragment from TV-show "Leave it to Beaver", season 2, episode 3, "Ward's Problem". Oct. 1958.
Class doing the "Pledge of Allegiance": -- I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Teacher: -- All right, children. Now, I have an announcement to make. As you've read in the bulletin board this coming Saturday... Yes, Judy?
Judy: -- Miss Landers, when we were pledging allegiance to the flag, Beaver was looking out the window.
Teacher: -- Thank you, Judy.
Judy: -- And I don't think that's very patriotic.
Teacher: -- Beaver, you're supposed to look at the flag, you know that.
Theodor "Beaver": -- I was looking at the flag outside, on the pole!
Teacher: -- Well, from now on we all look at the flag inside. As I started to say, this... What is it, Larry?
Larry: -- If we're pledging allegiance outside, do we have to look at flag inside?
Teacher: -- We will have a discussion about that some other time. Now, as you've read in the bulletin board...
Larry: -- Thank you, Miss Landers.
Teacher: -- You're welcome, Larry.
