A body belonging to a young child was recently found in Oregon. The discovery was made after the mother of a 6-year-old boy called 911 and told dispatchers she had thrown her son off the Yaquina Bay Bridge .

A witness saw the body later that night and alerted authorities. Public safety crews and U.S. Coast Guard officials searched the water for approximately 4 hours before locating it.

The mother, identified as 34-year-old Jillian Meredith McCabe is now in police custody for the murder of her son named London. She is facing charges of ‘Aggravated Murder, Murder, and 1st Degree Manslaughter’.

A number of witnesses reported seeing McCabe throw her son off the bridge, which stands about 130 feet tall.

Newport Police Chief Mark J. Miranda remarked “It’s one of these things that you don’t want to happen in a community. Unfortunately, sometimes it does and we just have to rely on each other for support at these times.”

McCabe doesn’t have a criminal record. She recently utilized crowdfunding site YouCaring.com to garner donations for her family.

There, she noted that her husband Matt was unexpectedly diagnosed with MS and could no longer work. He had been the family’s sole income earner. McCabe also mentioned what life was like caring for her son London, who had autism.
