More than 1.8 million people in Hong Kong have signed a petition calling on the police to “free the roads” blocked by Occupy Central protesters and restore the city’s public order, according to campaign organisers.

Pro-Bejing group, the Alliance for Peace and Democracy, launched the petition, which seeks to support the Hong Kong Police.

It calls for the clearing of roads occupied illegally by protesters and the restoration of law and order in Hong Kong.
