Military coup d'etat overthrows Burkina Faso gov't

A military coup d'etat overthrew the government of the West African country of Burkina Faso on Thursday. The army announced it has seized power and dissolved parliament, appointing a transitional government. The coup occurred after protesters set fire to the parliament building protesting now deposed President Blaise Compaoré's 27 years in power.
