Clashes erupt during funeral of youth killed by Israeli forces

STORY: Tension flared in Silwad after the funeral for a Palestinian-American youth who was shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes on Friday (October 24).

The U.S. State Department confirmed the youth had an American citizenship and called for a quick and transparent investigation.

Orwah Hammad, 14, was shot in the head in the village of Silwad, north of the Palestinian seat of government in Ramallah.

Palestinian youth hurled stones toward Israeli military base near the village. The Israeli army fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the protesters.

Reuters video show an Israeli soldier fired stun grenades toward journalists.

On Wednesday, a Jewish baby girl was killed and eight people were hurt when a Palestinian man slammed his car into pedestrians at a Jerusalem light railway stop on Wednesday, in what police described as a deliberate attack. The driver was shot dead.
