Protesters torch town hall over missing Mexican students

Protesters break into a town hall building in Iguala, angry over the fate of 43 students who went missing last month.

Mexican authorities suspect the mayor and his wife to be behind the disappearances and have ordered their arrest.

Investigators say the wife, Maria de los Angeles Pineda, has links with the notorious Guerreros Unidos gang, and the couple have go into hiding.

(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) MEXICO ATTORNEY GENERAL JESUS MURILLO KARAM, SAYING:

"From the statements obtained, the investigations undertaken and the expert analysis done, what happened in Iguala on the 26th of September constitutes a violent repression by the Iguala and Cocula police directed by the criminal group, which has already been well established, with the intention to dissuade a group of people from attending a celebration event for the mayor and his wife that night in Iguala for the second (annual) report."
