Hong Kong police, protesters face-off

Police stand firm in Mong Kok... keeping a watchful eye on pro-democracy protesters.

It's a peaceful scene, much different from the clashes that erupted earlier in the day.

Hong Kong police say they're here to restore order. But demonstrators insist on occupying core protest zones.

They say they won't leave until they make headway in bringing full democracy to Hong Kong... and until the city's leader, C.Y. Leung, resigns.

Leung says police are faced with a tough task.

"They have an impossible job to do, maintaining law and order in neighborhoods that are being affected."

Hong Kong residents say they've had enough of the road closures.

"This is affecting my daily life, my work, and business. It's inconvenient to travel anywhere because you can see that the roads are blocked."
