Suspect Allegedly Poses As Wedding Guest, Steals Gifts

Police in Westport, Connecticut are asking the public for help in identifying a man who allegedly posed as a wedding guest and stole presents for the bride and groom.

Police in Westport, Connecticut are asking the public for help in identifying a man who allegedly stole wedding presents from a bride and groom.

The incident occurred at The Inn at Longshore where the reception was being held. The suspect fled the establishment around 7 in the evening after posing as either a hotel or wedding guest.

He took off with a bird cage that contained a number of cards for the couple. Police responded to the scene, where officers set up a perimeter and utilized a K9 unit to help locate the suspect.

They were unable to do so, however cops did find the bird cage. Unfortunately it was empty and the envelopes were nowhere in sight.

Law enforcement describes the suspect as a 25 to 35 year old male who has light brown hair and is clean shaven. Video footage shows him hanging around the reception area before fleeing with the bird cage. At the time of the theft, he was wearing grey pants, a light colored shirt and a white undershirt.

Westport Lieutenant Ryan Paulsson remarked “I haven't seen anything like this happen. I think it says a lot about the world that we live in."
