General Gowon, military ruler of Nigeria, under the constant advise from the former colonial power UK, forms a government that includes both peoples of the Northern (Hausa) and Western (Yoruba) Nigeria including Obafemi Awolowo the Yoruba leader that Gowon's regime released from prison a few months earlier.
