Bonhams History of Science auction in New York will feature some interesting historic, and rare objects that are related to scientific development.

Among the most coveted items is an Apple-1 computer, and a Helmholz Sound Synthesizer.

Experts think that the Apple-1 for sale is one of the first fifty that were built by Steve Wozniak in the garage of Steve Jobs when Apple computers first started in 1976.

The early computer model still works, and comes with an owner’s manual, vintage keyboard, and Sanyo monitor.

Apple-1 computers were the first pre-assembled computers on the market, originally selling for 666 dollars and 66 cents.

At auction, the computer is expected to be sold for between 300 to 500 thousand dollars.

Another sought after item is the Helmholz Sound Synthesizer which was reportedly built in 1905, and might be the oldest electric keyboard on the planet.

Bids for the synthesizer are expected to reach between 20 to 30 thousand dollars.

Other significant items include scientific documents like French physician Antoine-Pierre-Ernest Bazin‘s sketches, paintings, and manuscripts, which are worth an estimated 10 to 15 thousand dollars.

Also among the antique scientific objects is a first edition copy of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species, and a handwritten letter from Darwin.
