Being stuck inside a cab in an overcrowded city street isn’t a pleasant thing. However, a new watercraft aims to change how folks get around.

It’s called the Jet Taxi and instead of traveling on roads, it hits the water. The minds behind the 2015 Jet Taxi say the vessel is ‘just the first of many next generation water taxis’.

They envision it as a futuristic cab that will take to the waters in major, tourist cities like Miami, Dubai, Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Doha. The Jet Taxi can carry anywhere from 8- to 12 passengers comfortably.

The vessel has two rear carbon doors, which help to maintain a consistent temperature inside. That means the operator can easily control the climate in one of the world’s most humid cities or alternatively in some of the coldest.

The watercraft is able to hit speeds of more than 30 knots while sailing the waters. It’s also been certified to waves of up to 6 and a half feet tall.

Reportedly the country of Italy has selected the vessel for a water taxi service that will be available to the public. What do you think of it?
