More bodies are discovered in Japan as search efforts resume for the missing victims on Mount Ontake.

Local media showed images of rescuers loading body bags into a helicopter. Officials say the death toll is expected to rise to about 46 people.

There was no warning before the volcano erupted on Saturday sending thick clouds of ash and smoke into the air.

Hundreds of people were trapped on the mountain for hours before it was safe to leave.

One survivor used his phone to capture the moment he was enveloped by the ash cloud.

Mt Ontake is Japan's second-highest active volcano. It's last major eruption was in 1979.
