Water main break floods Hollywood's Sunset Strip

Part of Hollywood's famed Sunset Boulevard was shut down on Friday (September 26) after a water main burst, sending thousands of gallons of muddy water onto the streets.

Crews worked to stem the flow with sandbags, as hotel and store employees scrambled to keep the water from flooding their buildings.

The break was reported around 2:30 p.m. local time, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

There were no immediate reports of residential flooding, but local businesses said that the flooding was disruptive for their customers.
