STORY: Ukraine's security and defense council on Friday (September 26) provided video footage of what it said was an overnight attack of pro-Russian rebels on the airport of Donetsk.

Ukraine's security and defense spokesman Andriy Lysenko said rebels unsuccessfully attempted to storm the airport two times with "multiple missile launchers and mortars" and that no servicemen were hurt despite the shelling.

Ukraine has been battling pro-Russian separatists whom the West believes have the backing of Moscow. Moscow denies any direct military involvement in the conflict, in which more than 3,000 people have been killed, or arming the separatists despite what Kiev and the West say is conclusive evidence.

Senior Ukrainian and Russian military officials met on Friday to mark out a proposed "buffer zone" in eastern Ukraine from which government forces and separatists will remove weapons, Ukrainian military officials said.
