STORY: The U.S. Navy released video on Wednesday (September 17) showing aircraft taking off and landing as they continue a mission to target Islamic State militants in Iraq.

The video, which was shot on Monday (September 15) and Tuesday (September 16), shows F/A-18 Hornets and EA-6B Prowlers on the aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush in the Persian Gulf in support of their strike, surveillance and reconnaissance missions over Iraq.

The USS George H.W. Bush is a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, which is powered by two nuclear reactors and can carry a crew of about 6,000, according to the U.S. Navy.

In addition to fighter jets, helicopters and other aircraft, the ships are equipped with sophisticated anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles.
