Dunya News - 13 dead as boat carrying wedding procession sinks in flood near Multan

A boat carrying wedding procession sank in flood in Multan near Sher Shah Barrier leaving 13 dead including the bridegroom. The bride was saved from sinking by the rescue team but groom lost the battle of life somewhere in the water. Rescue operation is still going on in the area to search for more people. According to Rescue sources, wedding procession was coming from Basti Chenab to Multan when suddenly the boat lost its balance and got rocked. There were around 20 to 25 people on the boat who sank in the flood.

Rescue sources informed that the bridegroom was taken to the hospital in a critical condition but he wasn’t able to survive. While talking to media, bride Mishal told that there were some 30 flood-victims on the boat. The sailor was looking at the helicopter when suddenly the boat rocked.

Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the incident and directed the Rescue teams to make all possible efforts to find the other people who have drowned in the flood. President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have also expressed grief over the incident.
