In order to secure Multan from the anticipated water torrents, a third breach has been created at Shershah dyke whereas decision has been taken to breach Doaba dyke in Muzaffargarh today.

Hundreds of settlements have been submerged, crops destroyed and livestock gone with the water. Hundreds of flood victims have therefore continued to migrate.

Enraged water of river Chenab is moving ahead engulfing many settlements. Two breaches were created at Muhammadwala embankment as the flood water approached Multan. Thousands of settlements and crops stretched over acres got swept away by the flood waters.

The land communication got completely disrupted in Multan, Muzaffargarh, D.G Khan, Rajanpur and Layyah as the water occupied the roads. The breach at Shershah dyke could not help the horrendous flow of water and devastated the suburbs of Shujabad which swept off the crops and forced the residents to take refuge at the relief camps.

With the water level constantly rising at Punjnad Headworks, all the gates of the barrage have been opened and all the canals originating from Punjnad Headworks have been closed.

According to the Flood Forecasting Division, an estimated amount of 6 to 7 Lac cusec water torrent is expected to pass through Punjnad Headworks within the next 2 to 3 day which may affect 2 Lac people.

Between September 15 and 16, high flood is expected at Guddu in river Sindh whereas flash flood mounting 6 to 7 Lac cusec is expected to pass through Sukkur between September 16 and 17 which would probably swallow up vast stretches of areas in Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Ghotki and Sukkur.
